Its time for our third annual Essay Competition. Winning compositions will win some great prizes and be featured in the 2018 edition of Explore Guyana, our annual destination Guyana magazine. 2015 Essay Winners
The topic for the 2015 essay competition was “GUYANA, Through My Eyes”. The Judges were Guyana Prize for Literature winner, Mr. Ruel Johnson, internationally recognised author Ms. Sharon Mass, GECOM chairman, Dr. Steve Surjbally and Vice President of THAG, Mrs. Andrea de Caires. The judging criteria was
Creativity – 30%
Structure – 20%
Adherence to topic 20%
Grammar – 10%
WOW factor – 20%
There were 53 entries, an increase of 21 over 2014. Ms Victoryne Mohabir of St Margaret’s Primary won in the Primary School category and Mr. Omari Joseph of Queen’s College won in the Secondary School category. Ms. Mohabir won a trip to Surama Eco Lodge in and Mr. Joseph was awarded a trip to Caiman House., both located in Region Nine.
Both 1st prize winners also received 2 return airplane tickets from Trans Guyana Airways.
