About the Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana (THAG)

At the heart of Guyana’s growing tourism story is the Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana (THAG), a dynamic, member-driven organization championing the country’s vibrant and diverse tourism sector. Founded on January 6, 1992, by passionate industry pioneers, THAG has evolved into the national umbrella body for everything tourism: from restaurants and resorts, to tour operators, travel agents, transportation providers, and community-based tourism enterprises.

For over three decades, THAG has been a key partner to the Government of Guyana, working collaboratively to shape and expand the sector through destination marketing, workforce development, and global positioning of its members. At its core, THAG is committed to helping members meet and exceed industry standards at the local, regional, and international levels.

Led by an Executive Board of dedicated professionals, and managed by a Secretariat headed by an Executive Director, the Association serves as a connector, advocate, and innovator for tourism businesses across the country.

With a strong network of strategic alliances and partners, THAG continues to fuel the momentum behind Guyana’s emergence as a world-class destination, one that celebrates its rich culture, breathtaking nature, warm hospitality, and sustainable tourism practices.
